In what was considered by most a huge upset, Shabbona defeated a heavily favored Leland club 25-17 at Waterman to take home the championship trophy, thus breaking the Waterman streak at seven straight titles.  Waterman was beaten in the first round by Sandwich, but bounced back to win the consolation championship game.  Hinckley, who had dropped a close semi-final contest to Leland, captured the third place prize by defeating Rollo.
