Ledgendary and Hall of Famer Ernie Eveland came to Waterman
and in his first year as head coach, led his club to the 1929 Little Ten Conference Tournament championship. The title
would be the first of seven straight won by Waterman, a feat that may never be repeated.
Waterman defeated Shabbona in thier opening game 32-28, then were
winners over Sandwich 34-22 in the semi-finals. In the championship game against a tough Rollo club, Eveland's boys
ran off with a 29-20 win. Sandwich won the third place game over Hinckley by the score of 27-11.
