The State's Top Ranked Somonuak Club Makes it Back-to-Back LTC Tournament Championships

Bobcats enter Tournament ranked number one team in state of Illlinois.

 

 

Somonauk and head coach Bill Randles entered the tournament with 16 consecutive victories and were voted the number one team in the “Fifteen Outstanding Illinois High School Basketball Teams” according to the United Press.

Somonauk defeated Hinckley (28-13) and Shabbona (36-24) to reach the title game in which they were victorious over Leland 45-29.

Leland beat Waterman, Plano and Serena to earn the right to play Somonauk. Serena was a 37-17 winner over Shabbona in the third place game.

Two weeks after the tournament, Somonauk traveled to Paris to take on the powerful Tigers who were coached by Ernire Eveland.  Eveland was the coach at Waterman when Somonuak head coach Bill Randles was a player.  In a teacher/pupil matchup of coaches, Paris and Eveland ran past Somonuak and Randles 71-57.
